Marasea Market Night

I’m on a sea food diet, I see food and I eat it.

Marasea offers a seafood experience and is located in Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa. On inquiring further about the name, I was told that Marasea is Arabic for Marina. Marasea takes a modern approach to Sharjah’s fishing tradition and serves its patron’s with its fresh catch which explains the taste. Hence, the menu changes on a daily basis.

The moment you step out of the elevator to Marasea, you are greeted by their friendly staff dressed in a qipao, and you are shown into the restaurant. The staff is very attentive, pleasant and are always tending to the needs of the visitors.

The center piece designed to resemble a ship doesn’t go unnoticed at all. The restaurant is on fleek with its ambience – dim lights, and soothing oriental music keeps you company while you get mesmerized by the wide platter that’s offered from different Asian countries. From Tokyo to Peking, they have it all covered. Authentic Asian food from different countries infused with different flavors tingle your senses and makes you wonder where to start.

Post the tour of the restaurant, we were offered Fresh Lemon mint juice which is made in house and tasted divine. When I was told that I wouldn’t find a similar tasting lemonade elsewhere, I did smirk a little – as I’m a lemon mint person. But boy, was I wrong. The lemon mint juice was served in a tall glass stacked with lemon slices and was placed along with sugar syrup and a bottle of lemon mint juice exclusive to Sheraton. The juice was refreshing, and I was all excited to try their menu.

I started off with the Tokyo section – as nothing says food more than sushi. I totally love sushi and can eat sushi worth my bodyweight. However, I’m still not the ‘authentic sushi’ person and I prefer my sushi meat to be cooked than raw. I was elated when I was told that the sushi is offered with cooked meat – I loved the sushi and it was just perfect.

With my sushi beautifully lined on my plate I went to the starters section – ginger chicken sounded like a good option and I generously filled my plate with it.

We gradually started off with our main course and were spoilt for choices from fish to crab, from rice to noodles – you name it they had it. We both opted out of trying soup and salads as we wanted to build an appetite for the main course.

I loved the chilli crab – it was a bit messy to eat, but the sea food monster in me didn’t mind the mess and ate it nevertheless. If you do order it a la carte you are given crab cutters and gloves, so as to not be as messy as me.

They also have a special set menu called Marasea catch, in case you don’t want to try the buffet.

We were spoilt for choice in the dessert section as well.  We opted for chocolate cake, rice pudding topped with marshmallows and mango mousse topped with tapioca balls. The chocolate cake was a clear winner – it was moist and just melted in the mouth.

Marasea gives options not only in wide array of food, but also in the seating. You can either sit inside the restaurant or sit outside in their terrace (depending on the weather). I loved the outside seating area, with dim lights and the gorgeous view. You have the beautiful Sheraton Hotel pool on one side and on the other the city lights adorn the hotel like a jewel.

If you prefer private dinners – they also arrange for the same. So if you are looking for a private romantic dinner or for family dinner, do make your reservations 24 hours ahead and soak in the beauty of the property and the amazing food.

They also offer  Master class for a group of minimum 10 people. It's an absolute fun wat to bond over cooking food. An excellent choice for corporate's, and family get together's.
