COLAB Dry Hair Shampoo

Hi Guys,

I want to share a new hair product that I have been using from sometime now. I have been using COLAB dry hair shampoo for those days when I run out of time to wash my hair. It's easy and an effective product to revive my hair and give it that extra bounce and refreshed look without actually washing it.

The best part about COLAB dry hair is that it doesn't leave a white residue, and gets absorbed quickly.

But don't let the dry shampoo stay in for longer than two days and it's NOT a permanent solution to Wet shampoo. (Read more HERE)

However, it definitely is a temporary solution to greasy hair when you are running late. It also gives a beautiful volume and added ease in styling your hair.

Here's how to use the product:

1) Shake the product well before use
2) Section dry hair, and spray from around 15-20 cm.
( I don't prefer massaging my hair with my fingers, as the whole purpose is then lost, read HERE)
3) Brush your hair to evenly spread the residue and style as needed.

Much Love,

Tinu

XOXO

Is Dry shampoo a necessity?

Hi guys,

I was recently talking to my friend about Dry Shampoo's and thought I'd share what I thought about them with you guys. Hope this helps.

Imagine getting a beautiful blowout during summers and then having to wash it off the next day itself. I know I hate it too. But what if you could get a temporary solution to your greasy scalp and add a relaxing scent of freshly washed hair? Perfect right? The Hair Gods, came up with the best - Dry Hair shampoo.  It’s a spray in product that advertises some of the same benefit as wet shampoo minus the time.

These alcohol- or starch-based sprays absorb the oil in your hair while adding volume. They are safe for al hair types, but should this be a replacement to traditional wet shampoo? I think not.
Wet shampoo removes additional oil, and build up and also help ease dandruff. Dry shampoo causes build up and hence is a temporary and not a permanent solution.

Once hair and scalp needs to be washed and rinsed intermittently to keep it clean. The scalp collects chemicals and pollutants both from the air and from styling products, and if you only use a dry shampoo, the cleansing is only minimal but it does freshen the hair by removing excessive  oil.

Keep in mind the following while using Dry Shampoo:

  • Only spray the greasy/oily areas
  • Shake well before use and spray from 15-20 cm away
  • Brush your scalp to evenly distribute the product*
  • Avoid spraying on the ends
  • Use no more than 2 days in a row.
  • Style as usual
*Avoid massaging with your finger tips as the purpose of Dry Shampoo is lost. Your finger tips secrete oil as well, thereby loosing the entire purpose of Dry Shampoo.

What do you think about Dry Shampoo?

The process began with a foot ritual and a questionnaire that was filled to determine  food habits, allergies, lifestyle, etc.

We began with a relaxing back massage.

My therapist Carolin chose the Balancing treatment for me which consists of cleansing with Echinacea cleanser, followed by exfoliation with cheratopeel, then  a sheet mask drenched in hammamelis toner, followed by serum with DermaBio Molecolare, then a relaxing massage with cream balance professional cream and finally face mask using earth powder, essential oils like Ylang ylang, geranium and lemon & cream balance professional cream.

The entire session lasted for  70 minutes, and also included a relaxing head and arm massage.
The Facial not only rejuvenates your skin, but also relaxes you mentally and physically. The soothing aroma of essential oils calms your senses and helps you relax and enjoy the treatment. If you are looking at revitalizing your skin, then the CromoAroma facial is a must try.

Xclusive Cruise

The weather is perfect and what better way to enjoy it, than a day out on a yacht.

I had the wonderful opportunity to experience the Dinner cruise aboard Xclusive Yachts. Xclusive Yachts, established in 2006 is Dubai's leading award winning yacht charter company. It is the only charter company to own its own fleet of yachts. It offers a luxurious experience on board from their well-maintained luxurious fleet to its quality yacht crew & professional guest relations staff.

Xclusive cruise has successfully established itself as a desirable dining experience for many tourists and residents in Dubai. It has now taken a step further to enhance the experience by collaborating with Dubai’s homegrown chain of luxury hotels – The Address Hotel, Dubai Marina.

The registration process was hassle free with all the required details along with the location map sent straight to your email and a QR code to make it easier. As we parked our car and were walking towards the yachts, we were greeted by the staff and were given directions as to where we were to head to. Our reservation was confirmed for the upper deck with a table for two.

I loved the welcome provided by the staff. They were very courteous and extremely helpful. We had a staff guide us to the yacht. We got our name checked and were led through a red carpet area to board. We got our pictures clicked, which can be later bought from them during the cruise.

We were told we had reservation on the upper deck and were guided to our table. The Sunset cruise was completely booked. It wasn’t a surprise as it’s a perfect setting for a quick romantic getaway. The welcome staff was really courteous and took care of all our needs from the start.

The Dinner cruise starts at 8:30 p.m. and goes until 2 hours, which is perfect for dinner and conversation along with fabulous view.

The cruise was 2 hours long and it took us around the very panoramic views of the marina, The Burj-Al-Arab, The Palm Jumeirah Island and back. The Dubai temperature was cordial with easy winds to make our journey pleasurable. Pre and post dinner we were all free to move around the the vessel and take pictures or chit-chat or even just hang by the deck.

It’s a dry cruise with no alcohol, however all that’s made up with live music and a scenic view of Dubai. Add that with good company, what more can one ask for.

The tie-up with Address Hotel for food increased my expectations and hence the Buffet wasn’t as I expected it to be. The variety and choices offered were fewer than expected.  It felt like a regular Buffet.

To begin with they had an assortment of salads and Arabic cold mezze like grilled chicke
n, hummous, Tzazaiki, beetroot salad to name a few,  and a soup with an array of breads.

For the mains they had Crispy Fried Fish, Green Thai chicken Curry and a Roasted Chicken dish with potatoes which is good if had warm, as it's more chewy when cold. They also had stir fried noodles and some roast veggies for vegetarians. There was also a live pasta station which was very active.

Barring the food, the cruise was amazing. It’s a great experience as you get to dine along some spectacular view.

Organic Body polishing

Hello Ladies,

How often do you pamper yourself? It’s imperative to take care of yourself atleast once every month, owing to the busy stressful life that we so lead.  We are so used to the exposure to pollution and UV rays on a daily basis, that we overlook how dull our body becomes over time.

It’s vital to slough away the dead skins and reveal supple smooth skin. The best way to do so is through Organic Body polishing at Queen Beauty Lounge.

The first thing I did notice about Queens Beauty Lounge is that it’s so easy to locate!  It’s a 2 min walk from the metro and is located on the mezzanine floor of Trident Marinascape. The name is so apt, as that is how every woman would feel when you visit the lounge. They also offer various treatments ranging from face, body, hair, nail & eyelash extensions and professional make up.
I was invited to Queens Beauty Lounge in Marina, to try their Organic Body polishing. I had heard so much about Queens, but had never been there myself.  Jasmine, was my first point of communication with Queens and she was so friendly and accommodating with my erratic schedules and timings. I finally made it, and I’m so glad I did. I’m sure you will too post reading my experience with them.

Queens beauty lounge pampers you from the moment you step into the salon. From a cold compress to Detox water, they ensure you are well taken care of. Post filling in a form with essential personal and medical details they whisk you off to your chosen service.

Body polish is a mechanical way of removing dead skin from the surface, and leaving behind new skin (cells) to get healthy, glowing skin. Body polishing offers many advantages such as skin firming, cell regeneration and renewal, elimination of toxins from the body, and deep moisturization.

Organic body polishing at Queens involves a 3 step process:

Step One (Scrub): After ensuring I was comfortable, my therapist Tulip promptly explained the procedure. She started off with the Himalayan and Rose petal scrub.  A bit of warm water was used before applying scrub all over my body. Tulip scrubbed every nook and cranny of my body.  It took her a good 20-30 mins to scrub my entire body. She ensured that the scrub was not too harsh and that the pressure applied was as per my level of tolerance. The combination of Himalayan sea salt and rose petals ensured deep exfoliation without leaving my skin dry.

Note: It’s advisable to not try Organic Body polishing right after waxing or shaving your skin, wait at least 2 days for your skin to heal or the salt in the scrub will give you slight discomfort.

Step Two (Pack): The scrub is then wiped off your body with a towel soaked in warm water. Post which an organic brightening mask made up of white clay and rose petals is applied generously all over the body. Then your body is wrapped in a sheet and was further covered by two big towels. The mask is left to dry for 15-20 mins. The wrap ensured that my pores opened up and benefited completely with the mask. I asked for the lights to be a switched off and fell into lull with the soothing music that was being played.

Once the pack dries off, you are asked to wash it off.

P: S – look at those cute disposable pink flippies.

Step Three (Massage): The third step is my favorite. I’ m a sucker for massages. I was taken to a different room where Tulip gave me a deep tissue massage with Frangipani infused oil. The massage was rejuvenating and I just didn’t want it to get over. She targeted specific areas in order to stimulate the pressure points, which help strengthen the tissue and eliminate toxins. The oil smells wonderful and is very moisturizing. I have dry skin and it left my skin smooth and supple the next day too. It’s also available on sale at AED 160.

Honestly I am in love with their service. It not just removes your dead skin but also helps with those pesky in-growths. This 3 step process ensure that your skin is refreshed and replenished. To maintain the results it is advised to book in for Skin Polishing once a month.
