Review - Polished Spa

Hello lovelies!!

I’m positively thrilled to share my experience with Polished Spa.

Polished Spa is located in Muweilih, Sharjah. Sharjah is a place that keeps surprising me often.

The staff at Polished, followed up with session, as I most often had to keep postponing it. Not only were they very helpful but also very polite and understanding.

I booked in for a session on Friday at 11:00 a.m. they sent me a confirmation e-mail with the timing’s and inquired if I did know of the location the previous day.  I received a call an hour prior to my appointment.  I informed them that I was running late (It was a friyay!), and they accommodated my lazy late ass as well.

Spoiler alert: I saw the Spa (the board) and was super excited. I was dropped right in front of the spa, and when I walked towards it I saw a flex covered door that mentioned spa timings et all. I ignored that, walked past it and went to, ‘my idea of how a spa entrance should look like’ and went and tried opening the closed door of a men’s salon.

Disappointed, I went back to the flex area and saw what appeared to be a door (honestly, I just wanted to run back), and pushed it open. The stark contrast hit me really hard and I just felt Harry Potter having entered station 9 3/4 for the first time. It was magical, peaceful and every synonym I could possibly use for repose.

This is where ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ plays on repeat in your mind.

The place was so quiet and calming. I’m not sure if it was the ambiance, music or the friendly staff or probably a mix of all. It seemed like a place where time stood still and all that mattered was how you, as a customer was made to feel.

I was warmly welcomed in by the front office staff and made to sit comfortably to fill in a form with personal details/health issues/allergies etc. I was also served their special ginger tea in the cutesiest cup ware ever. Ask for the ginger tea – you won’t regret it. The ginger tea does calm your senses and is very relaxing and more importantly – it’s delicious!

I was then shown the changing room, and was provided the most comfiest warm robe with osho slippers and a ‘one size fits all’ undergarment.

I was ushered to my massage room for my ‘Beyond Bali’ massage. The Beyond Bali, is a medium to deep pressure massage that originated in the island of Bali, Indonesia. The therapists use traditional massage techniques along with deep stretching to bring oxygen to the muscles and stiff joints. My masseuse, Lastri is a native of Bali. She was soft spoken and ensured that I was completely comfortable.

The session started with a foot wash, with your feet submerged in luke - warm water infused with lavender scented Himalayan salt. It was such a delicate yet soothing massage that I knew I was in good hands.

Post that I was shown the massage table and was asked to lie down with my head firmly placed in the face rest facing a bowl of scented dried flowers. I was asked for my level of comfort with regards to the light, music and how strong I liked my massage. I could feel my eyes shutting down, as I had an early day and suddenly my senses were awakened with the scent of lavender. I opened my eyes to see Lastri running her palms beneath my face and I realized the source of the aroma. It lulled me back to sleep (lol).

A hot compress was placed on my back, and she gently started applying warm oil on my leg and started massaging it. I wanted to keep a track of all steps involved, but I just gave up to her expert hands and enjoyed every bit of my massage session.  I woke up when she asked me change sides and then went back to that trance like relaxation state. I could feel all my stress knots easing up, and I could feel my body relaxing with every passing minute.

Lastri finished the session with combination of face and head massage and a fabulous shoulder massage. I didn’t want the session to end at all, it was pure euphoria!

Just like all good things, my massage also came to an end (sigh). However, what I loved about them was that they weren’t time bound, they were customer satisfaction bound. They didn’t hurry up the procedure just to fit it in the 60 min or 90 min time frame.

They didn’t rush you with changing or with relaxing – It’s a spa experience like never before. Polished Spa in my opinion was more customer and experience oriented, as opposed to commercial Spa’s.

Apart from their amazing Spa-rience, they also provide a full range of treatments from Facials to Morroccan Bath, Hair and Nail services.  One of their famous treatments is the Coconut and Aloe Vera Hair treatments. Both Coconut oil and Aloe Vera juice is fresh and organic. The coconut oil is freshly pressed by the therapists themselves.

Girls, if you are reading this – Book an appointment right now, trust me you will love it.
Guys, book a session for the women in your life – and they will love you for that.
