Alloro Ristorante

Dubai has seen an influx of Italian restaurants recently and Alloro Ristorante is one of them. Alloro located within the Wyndham Dubai Marina Hotel, is inspired by a team of foodies that believe ‘there’s a little Italian in all of us’.

Alloro is offering a Friday brunch in a cozy setup, with live band and chef table service. You can easily find a spot for yourself owing to the spacious indoor and outdoor seating area. The interior is done up with dim lighting and earthy tones, complete with marble top tables. They had a rustic long table set up in the center, laden with fresh vegetables which was a sight to behold.

It’s a set brunch menu that they have carefully chalked out, keeping the real taste of Tuscany in mind. Be ready to have an explosion of Italian food with some good wine.

We started off with an Aperol welcome drink which prepared us for what was to come.

As we were busy sipping on our drinks, a beautiful plate of Prugna in prigione which is essentially roasted plum wrapped in turkey bacon was set before us. The plating looked beautiful and very inviting, and the starter set my taste bud tingling.

Italian food is incomplete without bread and we had a selection of Antipasti homemade Italian bread.

For starters we had frittata, bruschetta, polenta, Spiedino & Insalata. What caught my attention was how fresh the veggies were. I loved how they were all served on a wooden platter. My favorites were the Insalata, polenta and frittata.

Before our main course we were served mango and peach sorbetto that was a palate cleanser.
We moved onto our mains – the brunch offers eight main course meals including roast beef meatloaf. You need to save up space for all the food.

For the main we had – Lasagna, Pasta, stracetti, pesce persico, cabbage salad, beans salad and roast beef meatloaf.

Beef Lasagna was scrumptious. I kept devouring it almost forgetting that there was a huge spread waiting post this.  Stracetti was delish too. I loved how the chicken strips were presented in lime and ginger juice. The flavors were an instant hit with my palate.

Roasted perch was crispy and tasted very good as well. I loved both the fagiolini and cabbage salad. The fagiolini, I would say is an acquired taste - but definitely worth a try at Alloro.

We were so stuffed with all the food, that we almost thought it was over until the chef came to our table with the live carving station. He served us beef meatloaf with beetroot puree. The combination of the meatloaf and beet puree was amazing.

We managed to still have space after all the food we had and we were glad we did. The dessert platter is one not to be missed.

The platter or rather tray was a sweet tooth’s delight. It had Tiramisu crepe, banana zeppole with chocolate cream, blueberry and lime pannacotta, cassata siccilaana.

My favorite was the banana zeppole and panacotta. If I did have enough space I would have asked for more of both.

No Italian meal is complete without Tiramisu, and what better way to have it than in a crepe.  The tiramisu in it was definitely the surprise element. The zeppole was so delish especially the chocolate cream – it was whipped to perfection.  The fried banana zeppole combined with chocolate cream was scrumptious.

What stood out more was the blueberry and lime panacotta. I just couldn’t stop myself from finishing it clean.

The food ,ambiance, service combined with live music was beautiful for the brunch setting. Angelina and Rolando ensured we were taken care of right from the time we stepped in to Alloro.

So, head right over for a perfect Friday afternoon with family or friends and indulge in the generous portions of Tuscany goodness that is served from 2PM to 5PM at only at Alloro.

Hibachi

The revamped Roda Al Bustan (previously Rotana Al Bustan) has a plethora of restaurants. I tried Hibachi (previously Benihana) and was not disappointed one bit.
I was invited for the Japatapas, and was pretty intrigued to see Japan mixing with Spain.
Cherry Blossom trees were placed on either sides welcoming it’s patrons to a beautiful night of Japanese cuisine and hospitality. The restaurant has a live station and also a sushi station.

The Japatapas had a set four course menu. We started off with a sushi platter and kale & quinoa salad. Had I known the food that was to flow, I wouldn’t have devoured the scrumptious Sushi platter and fresh salad.

We were served a bucket of peanuts to strat our Japatapas journey.

The second course had a lot food. It included – peppered tuna, salmon and hammour, tofu steak with paratha, seafood diablo, hibachi goreng and Yakichorva.

My favorite were, the perfectly cooked tuna, the delish salmon, tofu steak was very tasty however the parathas were a miss for me. Prawns were perfectly cooked and the sauce was exceedingly saporous. I was too full to try the hibachi goreng and yakichorva – but my friend loved it.

We moved onto the third course (I was almost ready to burst). The third course has many star dishes, almost all of them were in their own way. The chicken wings were so succulent, juicy with the right amount of spice. Crispy chicken in garlic sauce was again palatable. Both the beef dishes – with teriyaki and sake were mouthwatering. Perfectly cooked and small bites ensured one could savor all the food.

Ram and an ever smiling server were always around to assist us. We enjoyed amazing Red wine and Sake as well.

We moved onto dessert and had a full house on the table with Crepe Ice cream, Chocolate brownie and Japanese cheesecake.

The brownie wasn’t something I liked as much as I loved the Crepe ice cream.

The problem with being a blogger is that you have to take pictures and then satiate your taste buds. In the interim the ice cream melted away to the wrap. However, inspite of that the crepe was toothsome.

My expectation of the Japanese cheesecake was that it should wiggle (Instagram videos, keep messing with your mind) I did everything to make it wiggle and then gave up. But on digging in, I realized that wiggle or not – the taste was amazing.

The service, food, ambiance is just perfect.
