Why you should try Bio Oil at least once

Hello Lovelies,

Today I'm going to review 'The Miracle Oil' which is known to help reduce scars and stretch marks - Bio Oil.

Product Description:

Bio Oil is a specialist skincare product formulated to help improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. Its unique formulation, which contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil, is also highly effective for aging and dehydrated skin. PurCellin Oil reduces the thickness of the Bio-Oil formulation and makes it easily absorbed.

Packaging:

The bottle is placed inside a white carton accompanied by an instruction manual (it even has diagrams demonstrating the application of the product). Bio oil comes in a convenient sturdy transparent plastic bottle (you can always see how much is left inside) with a white screw on cap and a small hole to dispense the oil.  It’s the perfect shape for both storage and travel and doesn’t leak either. I also like that this pretty pink/peach oil is shown off to it's full as the packaging is completely transparent except for the labelling and lid.

How to use:

Apply twice daily for a minimum of 3 months. During pregnancy apply twice from the start of the second trimester.

Texture:

The oil is light orange in color while inside the bottle, The oil is light orange in color while inside the bottle, but is transparent on pouring out.. The texture is light and smooth, almost like a dry oil and is not at all heavy or sticky. I have oily to combination skin type and so hence only use 2-3 drops and massage it onto my face. It sinks into my skin instantly and disappears without a trace.

My Experience:

Bio-Oil has a pinkish-orange tone, which turns completely transparent as soon as it comes outside the bottle. The fragrance is very mild herbal, but not at all offensive and fades within moments of application. The oil is very light in weight and its texture is absolutely non-greasy. No matter how dry your skin is, only a few drops will be enough to moisturize it efficiently. Moreover, it goes deep into the skin after a little massage (the manual shows how you need to move your fingertips gently in small circles) without leaving any oily residue.
Bio Oil is a staple in my beauty stash since the last few weeks. It has helped fade a few scars (wish I was more consistent) It definitely does take longer to see results, but once they are visible you can't ignore this product.

YAYS:
  • Makes skin smooth and supple and dehydrated
  • Does help to reduce the size and redness of scars.

Himalaya Tan Orange Peel Off Mask

Hello Lovelies,
Today I’m reviewing the Himalaya Tan Removal Orange Peel-Off Mask. It claims to control melanin synthesis with the peeling action and help to remove skin tan and lightening the skin tone.

Packaging:

Himalaya Herbals Tan Removal Orange Peel-Off Mask comes in a sturdy and easy to use tube packaging, typical of Himalaya Herbals packaging. The tube has all the information you would need about the product. The flip cap works nicely and prevents any leakage.

The lid is quite sturdy and clasps in place with just a little force. The fact that the tube stands tall on the lid itself makes sure that the product remains ready to be squeezed out and does not need you to engage in a brawl with the upper end.
Texture & Fragrance

Himalaya Herbals Tan Removal Orange Peel-Off Mask comes in an orange-colored gel type liquid. It is slightly thicker than the usual gel masks, but spreads easily on the face. I like the consistency of this product as the gel stays on the face and doesn’t drip. The gel has an artificial orange fragrance which is refreshing. It may be a put off for many, but I like it.

.My Experience:
I generally squeeze out the mask on my finger and spread a thick layer evenly on my cleansed face & neck avoiding eye area and hair line. The mask goes smoothly on the skin, but you need more product for the entire face and neck area. It gives a cooling sensation to the skin that lasts for 1-2 minutes. It dries completely within 10-15 minutes of application and gives a little skin tightening effect while drying.

After peeling off the mask, I noticed that it removes whiteheads too and pulls away dirt and grime from the skin, which is an added bonus. However, for those who have dry combination like mine – your skin will feel super dry post using this mask.

I have just used it once and haven’t seen any tan removal as it claims. However I feel like with other products consistency is the key, and that the first use is too early to determine if it does remove tan.

The YAY's
·         An affordable peel-off mask that removes impurities & oil from the skin surface.
·         It is enriched with the goodness of honey and orange peel.
·         Does not cause any breakout to my acne prone skin.
·         Easily available.
·         Ideal to use by both men & women.
·         Convenient packaging
·         Thick gel mask, which doesn’t drip

THE NAY's
·         All the after effects are temporary and the results last only for 2-3 hours.
·         It makes the skin dry - especially if you have dry or combination skin
·         Doesn’t remove tan
·         Not suitable for all skin types

Product Information:

Himalaya Herbals gentle Exfoliating Walnut Scrub

Hello Lovelies,
Today I’m reviewing the Himalaya Herbals gentle Exfoliating Walnut Scrub.

Packaging:

Himalaya Herbals Exfoliating Walnut scrub comes in a sturdy and easy to use tube packaging, typical of Himalaya Herbals packaging.

Texture:
This is a cream based scrub with fine walnut particles. I was looking for an exfoliating scrub with slightly abrasive granules which would remove blackheads effectively but something that does not dry out my skin either. The Himalaya Walnut Scrub fits the bill perfectly. It effectively sloughs away dead skin cells and the blackheads on my nose have lessened considerably with regular usage

My Experience:

Upon the very first squeeze, a gentle pea size amount of scrub is what the tube ejects to your finger/hand. The consistency is just the right amount of thick and creamy so it’s super easy to swipe it across your face .The product contains a generous amount of exfoliating particles so the finger does not, ever really, run out of particles to rub onto the face for proper exfoliation.
Open the pores of your skin by warming up some water in the microwave and dipping a clean soft facial towel in it for about 4-5 minutes. Squeeze out all the water from the towel and lie back while you place the (now warm) towel on your face. Relax and go with the flow. Let the warm towel work its magic and after like 5 minutes (or when the towel seems to lose its warmth) take it off and apply the scrub to your face. Gently massage the entire face, keeping your fingers specially focused on the high maintenance areas like the nose. Keep massaging for about 5-10 mins and rinse off with cold water. The cold water at the end will close the pores and the exfoliating scrub would have done its job.
THE YAYS!
·         Lovely consistency
·         Gentle yet effective
·         Readily available
·         Not pricey
·         Leaves skin soft and cleansed
·         Good at exfoliation – actually removes the dead skin, and reduces whiteheads.
·         Suitable for dry to combination skin type
·         Doesn’t dry out the skin

THE NAYS!

·         The smell may bother a few

Organic Body polishing

Hello Ladies,

How often do you pamper yourself? It’s imperative to take care of yourself atleast once every month, owing to the busy stressful life that we so lead.  We are so used to the exposure to pollution and UV rays on a daily basis, that we overlook how dull our body becomes over time.

It’s vital to slough away the dead skins and reveal supple smooth skin. The best way to do so is through Organic Body polishing at Queen Beauty Lounge.

The first thing I did notice about Queens Beauty Lounge is that it’s so easy to locate!  It’s a 2 min walk from the metro and is located on the mezzanine floor of Trident Marinascape. The name is so apt, as that is how every woman would feel when you visit the lounge. They also offer various treatments ranging from face, body, hair, nail & eyelash extensions and professional make up.
I was invited to Queens Beauty Lounge in Marina, to try their Organic Body polishing. I had heard so much about Queens, but had never been there myself.  Jasmine, was my first point of communication with Queens and she was so friendly and accommodating with my erratic schedules and timings. I finally made it, and I’m so glad I did. I’m sure you will too post reading my experience with them.

Queens beauty lounge pampers you from the moment you step into the salon. From a cold compress to Detox water, they ensure you are well taken care of. Post filling in a form with essential personal and medical details they whisk you off to your chosen service.

Body polish is a mechanical way of removing dead skin from the surface, and leaving behind new skin (cells) to get healthy, glowing skin. Body polishing offers many advantages such as skin firming, cell regeneration and renewal, elimination of toxins from the body, and deep moisturization.

Organic body polishing at Queens involves a 3 step process:

Step One (Scrub): After ensuring I was comfortable, my therapist Tulip promptly explained the procedure. She started off with the Himalayan and Rose petal scrub.  A bit of warm water was used before applying scrub all over my body. Tulip scrubbed every nook and cranny of my body.  It took her a good 20-30 mins to scrub my entire body. She ensured that the scrub was not too harsh and that the pressure applied was as per my level of tolerance. The combination of Himalayan sea salt and rose petals ensured deep exfoliation without leaving my skin dry.

Note: It’s advisable to not try Organic Body polishing right after waxing or shaving your skin, wait at least 2 days for your skin to heal or the salt in the scrub will give you slight discomfort.

Step Two (Pack): The scrub is then wiped off your body with a towel soaked in warm water. Post which an organic brightening mask made up of white clay and rose petals is applied generously all over the body. Then your body is wrapped in a sheet and was further covered by two big towels. The mask is left to dry for 15-20 mins. The wrap ensured that my pores opened up and benefited completely with the mask. I asked for the lights to be a switched off and fell into lull with the soothing music that was being played.

Once the pack dries off, you are asked to wash it off.

P: S – look at those cute disposable pink flippies.

Step Three (Massage): The third step is my favorite. I’ m a sucker for massages. I was taken to a different room where Tulip gave me a deep tissue massage with Frangipani infused oil. The massage was rejuvenating and I just didn’t want it to get over. She targeted specific areas in order to stimulate the pressure points, which help strengthen the tissue and eliminate toxins. The oil smells wonderful and is very moisturizing. I have dry skin and it left my skin smooth and supple the next day too. It’s also available on sale at AED 160.

Honestly I am in love with their service. It not just removes your dead skin but also helps with those pesky in-growths. This 3 step process ensure that your skin is refreshed and replenished. To maintain the results it is advised to book in for Skin Polishing once a month.

Little italy

Hello Foodies,

I had an opportunity to visit Little Italy in Sharjah, and I have contemplating since then as to whether or not I should write a review of that place. If you are wondering why – read on.

I have been reading such amazing reviews of Little Italy, that I had the restaurant on my list of vegetarian restaurants to eat at during Lent.

Little Italy is easily locatable in Safeer mall. We reached at 8:30 p.m., and walked in to a dimly lit empty restaurant. They have tried to get an Italianesque ambiance with the tiny window sills decorated with flowers and the artificial vineyard etc.

The major turn off when we walked in were sticky floors, personally it isn’t something that I’m comfortable with. I pushed that aside and headed over to our table, expecting a good dinner.

We started off with minestrone soup, which was more of thin clear soup with few vegetables in it as opposed to authentic Italian minestrone soup which is thick and includes loads of vegetables often with the addition of rice or pasta.  The soup was a major let down for me.

We were served water in glasses that was unclean and had visible fingerprints on it.

Soup was accompanied with garlic bread, It was topped with oodles of cheese and tasted amazing, but it didn’t have any garlic flavor.

The only saving grace was the Pasta Barbaresca. It was served with luscious creamy sauce topped with broccoli, tomato, parmesan cheese and chilli flakes. It was super flavorsome and palatable. I dived in for a second serving almost immediately.

Pasta was followed by Pizza Meloni with exotic vegetables. It looked amazing and when we were served I could see the amount of cheese in the pizza which made my mouth water. However, the first bite was disheartening and I didn’t enjoy the Pizza as much as I did the pasta. Moreso, the server dropped cheese in my glass and didn’t bother to replace it.

For dessert, we opted for Tiramisu and Panacotta.  Tiramisu was just perfect – imagine your fork sliding through a cloud of mascarpone and whipped cream, softened by liquer spiked espresson and then settling on cocoa sprinkled on the plate – absolute heaven. Tiramisu was dessert heaven, and was much needed post the main course that failed to excite my palate.

Panacotta was served with thin slices of apple and was just the perfect end to my dinner.

Little Italy is more of an Indianised Italian cuisine. Probably we let the manager decide our dinner and hence had a bad experience. However, It would definitely take me a lot more than convincing to go back to Little Italy.
