Packaging
I like the no-fuss packaging, which comes printed with all the information you need. It’s easy to open and use.

How to use:
Cleanse skin, remove mask from packaging, unfold and place it on your face using the eye areas to align correctly. Remove after 10-20 minutes and gently pat for better absorption. Do not rinse.

Texture:
The mask is slimy as its heavy with serum.

My experience:

These masks are so easy to use and are perfect for the scorching summer’s when you want to relax at home.

The mask fits the shape of my face well without needing to tug and refit every few minutes. Each mask comes heavily soaked in serum and once I’ve popped the mask on, there’s plenty of serum left in the packet. I apply them on my neck, decolletage and even arms and legs.

As the skin has a 4 week regeneration period, the masks are more effective when used twice a week for the first month and then as required. Apply just before bedtime for best results.

The mask is drenched in serum, however the serum doesn’t drip and stays in the mask. Although, if you want to reuse it just fold the mask and there is enough serum left in the mask for one light application over the face. You do feel a nice cooling/ tingling sensation when you first put the mask on. Taking it off, you notice the mask is not as heavy as it was when you put on, the serum completely soaks into your skin and there isn’t excess serum left on your face to massage in.

There's a whole range of masks available, targeting all sorts of skin concerns (one for blemishes, one for brightening, one with collagen, etc). They even have masks for your hands and feet, which sound interesting too. All the masks are hypo-allergenic and dermatology tested, and designed to give you salon quality results in the comfort of your own home without the spa treatment price tag..

Cactus Jack

Aloha Amigos,

Cómo estás

Mexican food is one of the best culinary experience that people can have. It’s full of color, life and music – it’s like a piñata exploding in your mouth. In Mexico they believe that barriga llena, corazón content - which means that a full stomach is a happy heart, and it’s evident in the food they serve.

I had the distinct pleasure of dining at Cactus Jack located in Millennium Airport Hotel. Cactus Jack is famous for its frozen mojitos, margaritas and fajitas. I would definitely not deny the latter at all.

The restaurant is tastefully done that to reflect the rustic charm of the Wild West along with the fun city life of Mexico. Props like cactus and the hanging Ristras adorn the entrance, prepping you for what’s to come.

The entrance is a bright yellow, and as you walk in you have a more muted setting with wooden chairs and tables. The dim lights created a very cozy and relaxed vibe. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and as the weather is getting pleasant we chose to be seated outside. The restaurant effortlessly transforms into a lounge with a dj and some good music post 11:00 p.m.

We started off with our welcome drinks which was a mix of watermelon & mint & enjoyed munching on Nachos & salsa while exploring the menu.

When life gives you limes, garnish your margarita – and we decided to do just that and ordered for Jalapeno cucumber Margarita. It wasn’t something I liked, and hence decided to move to Mexican Lindo which was suggested by the staff and I was so happy to have taken their advice. It was just the perfect cocktail for what was to follow.

Nothing says Mexican like Taco’s and we ensured that we had our share of Taco’s.

We ordered for the Cactus Jack fajita’s with shrimp and steak. Not a conversation passed between us as we devoured the fajita. It was delectable, sumptuous and appeased our senses. The shrimp was succulent, juicy, piquant and so flavorful. I would eat it all over again. The steak was perfectly cooked. The shrimp and steak coupled with the vegetables were served on a sizzling platter and the Fajita’s did sizzle their way into my senses.

If you go to Cactus Jack, you have to try the Fajita’s  - they are mouth watering and unavoidable.
In between all this we were told about the Dynamite chicken challenge and I flipped my hair and was ready to try the chicken. How spicy could spicy be, and especially since spicy food is like second nature to me, I was sure I was going nail it.

The challenge is called “Wings on fire” and for a reason. You have to be the first one to finish eating EIGHT spicy chicken wings and you will be rewarded with a free bucket of malt beverage.

It sounds like fun, and it is as well.

We loved how beautifully the dynamite chicken was placed in front of us. Like how can something so pretty be extremely spicy. And I was chanting ‘piece of cake” in my mind. I let my friend try first, and his reaction had me in splits.

I was still smug and didn’t think it would be spicy for my palate, but boy was I wrong! The first bite you take, you feel nothing but the moment you start chewing into it – the spice just bursts in your mouth and now we know why it’s called dynamite chicken.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you, but then again if I were you I would definitely try it.

We ordered our mains – Lamb Amarilla and Camarone Diablo and while we were doing so, we were told about the ‘Dentist chair’, wherein tequila will be poured in your mouth for 10 seconds on the go.

Lamb Amarilla was cajun marinated lamb chops served with mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables and habanero sauce. It was a little overcooked, but tasty nevertheless.

Camarone Diablo was the highlight for me along with the Fajitas. Jumbo prawns marinated with garlic and olive oil were served with Chipotle, vegetables, avocado and mango salsa with diablo sauce.

We moved onto dessert and it was the best way to end our dinner.

We had Sizzling Hot chocolate fudge, which was served on a skillet. It was mesmerizing to see the fudge cake melting away to white chocolate and cajeta sauce. Not only was it mouth watering to look at, but every spoonful was a burst of flavors in the mouth.

We also tried Nachos de chocolate, which was novel and innovative. Baked crispy sopapila was served with hot chocolate sauce and cajeta, along with strawberry and vanilla mousse.

Cactus Jack is just the perfect place to unwind over Mexican food and drinks. The ambiance is relaxed and the outdoor seating is perfect for the weather now. The staff is ever smiling and always ready to help make your experience at Cactus Jack an amazing one.

The food, and the presentation is just amazing. The effort that the staff make towards ensuring comfort is commendable.

Cactus Jack is definitely on the list of my fun places to dine at.

DXB Grill

Hello Gastronomes,

This post is for those who ‘LOVE FOOD’, because I’m going to talk about a place that serves amazing food and in a way that makes you feel good. I have always felt that the purpose of food is to make one happy, and DXB Grill achieves just that. The presentation, the food, service, drinks, ambiance surpassed my expectations.

As we walked in to DXB Grill located in Millennium Airport Hotel in Garhoud,  we saw an area with the produce on display, and that for a non-vegetarian is surely a delight. As we walked past to the dining area, I couldn’t not notice the contrast. From the bright entrance to the comfortably soothing lights in the dining area. It sets such a relaxed vibe. The setting is perfect especially if you are planning on a romantic dinner.

We were welcomed in by the ever smiling and polite staff to our tables and were graciously joined by Sheryl the assistant marketing manager.

As soon as we were made comfortable we were served welcome drinks. The ginger based drink was so refreshing, it was the perfect start to our evening.

For our appetizers we were highly recommended to try the Caesar salad, and on knowing my love for Sushi, we were also served the Sushi Island (or rather Sushi paradise).

Caesar salad is a personal favorite and hence I didn’t think twice before saying yes, but boy was I in for an amazing surprise. The salad was served unlike any I have ever eaten. A beautiful plate of salad (but where was the salad) was placed in front me and I was speechless (you have to see the images, I hope I have done justice to the presentation). The salad was served inside a giant crispy crouton ball, which reminded me of bature you get back in India, with grilled chicken breast placed on the side. It’s a huge portion, so I would suggest that the salad be shared.

You have to break through to see the luscious romaine lettuce drenched in Caesar dressing. It was pure foodgasm. The chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy and the Caesar salad pumped me up for the rest of the evening.

Sushi Island was Sushi paradise for those who love Sushi. With a wide selection of sushi and sashimi, it just made me only ‘sea’ food.

For the main course we ordered DXB Grill Beef Tenderloin and Canadian Lobster. I can’t choose which I loved more. I can’t be ‘shellfish’ either and hence both the main course dishes were hands down delectable.

Steak was served along with mashed potatoes, jus, garlic, cherry tomatoes and grilled vegetables. We were later on offered salt (6 different types) in case we wanted to season the steak.

The steak was juicy and divine. The jus was just perfect, mashed potatoes were creamy and luscious and had just that hint of garlic. I dived into my steak and didn’t share at all.

Both my colleague and Sheryl opted for Canadian Lobster, and on tasting I realized why it’s such a hit.  It was served with buttered asparagus, and waffle potatoes.

For dessert we ordered not one, but three different desserts – Chocolate lava (no prizes for guessing whose choice this was), Nutella and Marshmallow heaven and raspberry vanilla parfait. But the surprise of the evening for chocoholic me was the Raspberry parfait.

Though the parfait was initially neglected, it kept catching my attention as it was a vibrant red and was presented like a Christmas tree. With the beautiful reds and greens. I loved how it melted in my mouth and left a heavenly aftertaste.

Both the chocolate lava and Nutella marshmallow couldn’t distract me from my parfait. I would highly recommend you try the parfait. But of course if you love chocolate you have many options.

If you are looking for a restaurant has a unique concept of flavors, casual ambience, enticing a la’carte choices and a soothing pool view, then DXB Grill is your best choice.
